CGS conference

International Conference on ESG and Climate Governance

This inaugural conference brought together academic experts, practitioners, and board directors from around the world to discuss the latest developments and thinking on board governance of environmental and social issues.

  

SKBI Director

Appointment of New SKBI Director, Professor Zhang Hong

Besides leading the Sim Kee Boon institute, he is also the Keppel Professor in Financial Economics.  His research covers a broad range of topics, including investments, corporate finance, international finance, institutions and culture, and green finance.

 

 

NFC 2023

Nature Finance Conference

Featuring 20 expert speakers from policy, industry and academic, the 13th Annual SKBI Conference & 2nd SGFC Conference attracted over 100 attendees and identified several challenges in nature finance, with potential solutions.

 

 

MAIAs

“The SKBI Prize for Sustainable Financial Literacy" presented at the 2023 MAIAs

 The Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards (MAIAs) welcomed SKBI as its knowledge partner this year, with the institute sponsoring a new award for green financial literacy education.

 

 

SINDEX

Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations (SInDEx) Survey

This quarterly survey by DBS Group & SKBI yields CPIEx Inflation Expectations and related indices are products of the online quarterly survey of around 500 randomly selected individuals representing a cross section of Singaporean households. 

 

AFLP

Graduation Ceremony for the Asian Financial Leaders Programme (AFLP)

Five cohorts of 128 business leaders celebrated their graduation from the prestigious programme, with Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, Mr Heng Swee Keat, in attendance as the Guest-of-Honour.

SGFC’s “Green FinTech and Data Centres” Workshops & Interim Report

The paper offers new insights into financing climate change adaptation in cities, investigates the delivery of climate finance for climate change projects in Singapore and develops recommendations based on these insights.

Award-winning Research on Exchange Traded Fund Closures 

Co-authored by SKBI Senior Research Fellow, Marinela Finta, the paper “Are Investors Better Off Doing Nothing during Exchange Traded Fund Closures” won the CFA Asia Pacific Research Exchange Award.

Seminar on "Cost of living and business costs in Singapore" target="_blank"

With inflation a top concern in Singapore, speakers discussed differences between inflation and cost of living for consumers, as well as the cost pressures faced by businesses at a time of slower economic growth.

Over 5,000 young adults signed up for the Citi Foundation-SMU Financial Literacy Programme for Young Adults’ financial literacy awareness carnival, My Money @ Campus. The virtual carnival ran from 27 Feb to 10 April this year

Prof Zhang Hong presented his paper at this seminar organised by the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, in collaboration with the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics.

SGFC's “Financing Urban Climate Change Adaptation in Singapore” Workshop & White Paper

This paper offers new insights into financing climate change adaptation in cities, investigates the delivery of climate finance for climate change projects in Singapore and develops recommendations based on these insights. 

 

Sustainable housing

 SGFC Roundtable on Sustainable Housing Redevelopment in East Asian Cities

Five academic professors from different countries presented their cities’ housing policies and the associated challenges in green financing and achieving net-zero targets. This event was organised as part of the SMU Sustainability Series 2023.

 

IMF seminar

Seminar on Analytical Chapters from the IMF World Economic Outlook April 2023

Moderated by SKBI Research Fellow, Leo Krippner, this seminar featured presentations by three IMF Economists on various chapters in the April edition of the IMF World Economic Outlook.

CGS Webinar on Insights from COP 27 & COP 15 and its Implications for the Board

Esteemed climate & sustainability experts shared insights gained from COP27 & COP15, as well as what implications the outcome of such conferences has for the board.

10th Citi Foundation-SMU Financial Literacy Programme Symposium

The Symposium, which tackled issues of building financial literacy in an age of change and disruption, attracted some 300 attendees comprising students, academics and corporates.
