Dr Susan Wachter, Professor of Real Estate and Finance at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania reckoned that the higher stamp duty introduced by the Singapore government for the property sector would impact all buyers. As this measure is less targeted than conventional macro-prudential policies, buyers are likely to consider their decisions more carefully before investing in their next property. Professor Wachter made the above observations at a seminar on “Macro-Prudential Policy after the Great Recession” held at SMU, organised by SKBI on 14 Dec 2011.

Professor Yu Jun of SMU School of Economics, also Director of SKBI, provides comments on the current Europe Crisis and suggests some of the possible solutions to the Sovereign Debt Crisis.

In a commentary piece, Dr Benedict Koh, a professor of finance and the director of the Centre for Silver Security at Singapore Management University, shared his views on how to achieve financial goals set by individuals. The article is drawn from Personal Investments, a book co-authored by Benedict Koh and Fong Wai Mun.
