DBS-SKBI Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations
SYNOPSIS
The Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics and DBS are jointly holding an event on the release of the recent findings from the DBS-SKBI Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations (SInDEx) Survey. The DBS-SKBI CPIEx gives the Headline and Core Inflation Expectations derived from the online survey of around 500 randomly selected individuals representing a cross section of Singaporean households.
The online SInDEx survey helps researchers understand the sentiments and perceptions of decision makers in Singaporean households. This pioneering survey that started in September 2011 producing the one year and five year ahead inflation expectations, namely the DBS-SKBI CPIEx and CPIEx5, also explores more robust measures after accommodating for more volatile components of household expenditure like accommodation, private road transportation, food and energy expenditures.
The current and 31st round of the SInDEx survey also delves into component-wise measures of inflation expectations after accommodating for behavioural biases like anchoring. The research team also explore the relationship between the formation of inflation expectations, impact of macro prudential policies and investor behaviour in Singapore.
