You are invited to submit papers to be presented at the Asia Pacific Financial Education Institute to be held in Singapore on September 16 - 17, 2019. The deadline to submit papers is July 15, 2019.

The Asia Pacific Institute is a forum for presentation and discussion of financial education research. Its purpose is to promote excellent work in this field, foster research that can inform policy, and identify effective financial education programs.

We welcome research on financial education in all venues: primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, workplaces, and other locations. The Institute seeks papers assessing the effectiveness of financial education and its effects on financial behaviour and other outcomes. Academic faculty and researchers in economics, finance, and related fields studying financial education are encouraged to submit papers. We also welcome submissions from advanced PhD students.

The Asia Pacific Institute will be hosted by the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics (SKBI) at the Singapore Management University that is under the direction of David Fernandez. The event begins on Monday, September 16 with a full day of presentations and discussions of academic papers. The second day, Tuesday, September 17, focuses on sessions for policy-makers and practitioners.

Travel expenses and accommodations, up to a limit, will be covered for authors of papers accepted for presentation. This coverage includes up to 3 nights of lodging for international authors. A US$5,000 Financial Literacy Research Award will be offered for the best research paper presented.

The Asia Pacific Institute is a joint collaboration between the SKBI and the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC), directed by Annamaria Lusardi. The Asia Pacific Institute is modelled after GFLEC's Cherry Blossom Financial Education Institute held in Washington, D.C. every April. The research committee for the Asia Pacific Institute consists of David Fernandez, Annamaria Lusardi, Michael Staten (University of Arizona) and William Walstad (University of Nebraska).
