Securities Investors Association (Singapore), SIAS, has launched an initiative to provide research to retail investors on the corporate governance practices of listed companies. The corporate governance page, developed with the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at SMU, will be a one-page report that gives investors a snapshot of corporate governance standards among Singapore-listed firms.

At the SIAS Investors' Choice Awards 2012, nominees of the Most Transparent Company Awards are first shortlisted by the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics at SMU using a weighted index covering five aspects in the OECD principles. Within the "Disclosure and Transparency" aspect, factors such as timeliness, substantiality and clarity of news release, degree of media access, frequency of corporate results, and availability of segmental information and communication channels are considered.

The SKBI-MasterCard Singapore Index of Inflation Expectations (SInDEx), which was jointly developed by Dr Aurobindo GHOSH and Professor Jun YU from SMU Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics (SKBI), and MasterCard, is based on a survey of around 400 randomly selected individuals from house
