FinLit Challenge 2021 for Polytechnic and JC students was launched on 5 July 2021. In round 1, participating teams were required to submit a creative TikTok video on a useful money management habit that can be applied in their daily lives. Top 8 teams advanced to an exciting space-themed Virtual Amazing Race in August 2021, where participants learnt about important financial literacy topics such as Savings, Budgeting, Investment, Insurance, FinTech, and estate planning through various game stations!

FinLit Challenge 2021 for ITE students was launched on 12 July 2021. In Round 1, participating teams were required to create Infogram (Instagram Infographics) based on a financial literacy strategy for a topic of their choice. Each team was judged based on content, creativity, design, and their popularity on Instagram. Top 8 teams advanced to a space-themed Virtual Amazing Race in August 2021, where they similarly learnt about important financial literacy topics such as Savings, Budgeting, Investment, Insurance, FinTech, and estate planning through various game stations!

FinLit Challenge for University students was scaled up as FInHack (Financial Inclusion Hackathon) in August 2021. Read more here!

Past formats include video competitions, case competitions, hackathons, amazing race, online Game of Life and quickfire live quiz battle!

Flag The FinLit Challenge 2020 - Polytechnic/ITE category consisted of two rounds of interactive challenges of increasing difficulty; a Virtual Amazing Race and a specially designed Virtual Game of Life. Top 7 teams who excelled in the first stage proceeded on to compete in the Virtual Game of Life, where the financial management knowledge they had learned in the Virtual Amazing Race was reinforced through the decisions they needed to make in each round. Participants got to simulate real-life scenarios and experience making important financial decisions through various stages of their life, from a young student to a retiree.

2020 was also the first year where the FinLit Challenge - University category was expanded, welcoming participants from universities from beyond SMU for the first time. The selected 24 teams proceeded with an online case competition, where they were required to create a video or brochure based on the financial situation of a character described in a case study. Top 12 teams moved on to the next stage of the competition, called the Pursuit, where students’ financial literacy knowledge were tested through a series of live quickfire quiz battles against another team and experts.
